Typing accents for other languages in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala
System -> Preferences -> Keyboard
Click on the 'Layouts' tab
Click [ Layout Options... ]
Open the 'Compose key position'
I would recommend clicking the 'Left Win' option. That means you push the left Windows key, then the [ ' ] (apostophe) key, then [ e ], you get é.
